In 2004, My child was takn aware from our family because I have a mental disability. I never in my wildest dreams would have thought that my child would be taken from me on the basis of an illness. Children are not taken from others that have diabestes or cancer. After calling the Governor of Arizona's office every other day, we got our daughter back after three months. But a lot of the damage had already been done. We knew that there were others out there like us. December 5, 2005, we opened up a non-profit oraganization called F.A.I.R. or Family Avocacy In Reunification. I worked hard to support other mothers and fathers who had a mental disability and were at risk of losing their children. I spoke twice before the Senate regarding this issue. I have written to legistlators and mental health organizations to no avail. It is sad to know that families all over this country are losing their children because of a mental disease. There is no cure currently, but through medication, we can all live very fulfulling lives. December 2007, my husband and I decided that we had to close our agency due to financial problems. As a result of our endeavors, we are currently $159,000.00 in debt and are at risk of losing our home. We would appreciate help from anyone. Let us know if anyone has knowledge of how to stop Child Protective Services from destroying families.
